Museum of Pan Tadeusz, National Institute Ossolińskich is a unique, modern Museum tells about the creation and fate of an extraordinary book.

Perhaps the last one, the fragments of which almost all Poles know by heart. The only existing manuscript of Mickiewicz's "Pan Tadeusz" surrounded by several hundred authentic manuscripts, antique prints, graphics, paintings, sculptures and everyday objects, all complemented by over a hundred applications and multimedia presentations - this is a striking invitation to talk about Polish culture and the history of the struggle for an independent homeland . Exhibitions devoted to "witnesses of history": Jan Nowak-Jeziorański and Władysław Bartoszewski, as well as the rich educational and artistic program of the Museum broaden this perspective and allow for a real dialogue with the most interesting aspects of contemporary culture.

The Museum of Pan Tadeusz invites you not only to the permanent exhibitions of the Manuscript of "Pan Tadeusz" and the Mission: Poland, but also to temporary exhibitions. Currently, work is underway to prepare the third part of the permanent exhibition devoted to the life and work of Tadeusz Różewicz, whose collections were donated to the Ossolineum.

An important goal of the Museum is to expand the program and expand accessibility for people with disabilities. An equally important part of the mission is the organization of the #muzealniaki action, in which the Museum of Pan Tadeusz, together with numerous institutions and organizations, promotes the presence of children in spaces associated with culture.

The museum is located in one of the most beautiful bourgeois buildings in Wroclaw - Kamienica pod Złotym Słońcem on the western frontage of the Market Square.

The Pan Tadeusz Museum is part of the National Institute. Ossolińskich, which for two hundred years has shaped the thinking about tradition and cultural identity.

About permanent exhibitions:

The "Pan Tadeusz" manuscript is a story introducing Adam Mickiewicz's poetic vision, showing the world of the Polish nobility of the first half of the nineteenth century on the extremely interesting background of Polish and European romanticism and the turbulent history of Europe at that time. We take viewers on a journey, during which they learn key inspirations, the history of the uprising, the world presented and the reception of the epic. We also show the manuscript of Pan Tadeusz, which is the most valuable exhibit of Ossolineum and one of the most valuable monuments of Polish culture.

Mission: Poland is about the romantic idea of freedom transferred to the realities of World War II and post-war times. On the example of biographies of Jan Nowak-Jeziorański and Władysław Bartoszewski, he presents the fate of a generation that grew up in the free after 123 years of annexation of the homeland, but in 1939 it faced the necessity of fighting for independence and then for the sovereignty of Poland in modern Europe. Both witnesses of history gave Ossolineum priceless collections documenting their fate, the events in which they participated, as well as collections of works of art and archives.

The museum was created thanks to the support from the Norwegian funds and EEA funds from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, as well as national resources.
