It was built by Italian architects in the years 1530-1580. It is one of the most valuable architectural monuments in Poland. The building consists of three buildings with cloisters surrounding the castle courtyard. An example of a European renaissance sculpture is the facade of the gate with a portrait and genealogical gallery of 24 busts of Polish rulers and Silesian princes from the Piast Dynasty. In the Renaissance castle interiors there are rooms in the eastern wing, which are covered with mirrored vaults with lunettes and rich stucco decorations.

In the former ducal office, a Renaissance mural from 1584 has been preserved depicting in the form of a family tree the bust images of Prince George II, his wife Barbara and their offspring and sons with their wives. In the courtroom in 1560-65, extensive inscriptions were posted informing about the birthday dates of the prince, princess and their children. There are also fragments of biblical verses and quotes from the writings of ancient philosophers talking about exercising power and administering justice.

The Museum of Silesian Piasts is the only institution in Poland that deals with the issues of the Piasts of Silesia and the Piast traditions, as well as the historical and artistic past of the Brest region.

The museum has Silesian paintings from the 15th to the 18th century, a 14th-century hunting arc, sarcophagi of the Legnica-Brzeski princes and monuments in the field of genealogy, numismatics, sphragistics, paintings, sculptures, graphics, handicrafts, archives, antique prints and other souvenirs of value documentary-historical, related to the Piast issues. The museum conducts educational activities, offering museum lessons, readings and a wide range of concerts.
