From the beginning, it has been a scientific and educational institution implementing statutory tasks within the following departments: archeology, history, ethnography and nature, the area of ​​activity is the widely understood region of Brodnica. Currently, there are 11 people working in the Museum: including 3 substantive employees. The museum has gathered a rich collection of monuments of over 50,000. inventory items and nearly half a million exhibits.

The Brodnica Museum is housed in a complex of three historic buildings located in the city center: in the 14th-century Chełmińska Gate with an adjacent tenement house, in the cellars of the 14th-century Teutonic castle and in the Baroque granary from 1604. As part of our scientific and research activities, we cooperate with many scientific institutions in Poland and abroad. Our exhibition achievements include over 230 exhibitions on various topics ranging from archeology to presentations of contemporary art.

Two of them have been recognized by the Ministry of Culture and Art as part of the prestigious national competition for the Most Interesting Museum Event of the Year (1995 - distinction for the exhibition "Nature, home, family landscape", 1997 - prize for the exhibition "Everyday life of mesolithic hunters from Mszana before 10,000 years "). About 40,000 people visit the museum every year. Apart from the exhibition and research activities, the Museum conducts various forms of educational and popularizing activities.

We run museum lessons, we organize science camps. The most well-known form of our educational activity is the promotion of medieval culture as part of the MEDIEVALIA Historical-Archaeological Festival organized for over a dozen years. Every year, several hundred knights from the Knights Brotherhood from abroad and a dozen or so thousand spectators participate in it. We work closely with the Knights Brotherhood of the Brodnica Castle and the Society of Friends of the Museum in Brodnica, which support us in many areas.
