It was not until 1966 that the Historical Regional Chamber was under the care of the House of Culture, and the decision of the Presidium of the Poviat National Council in Mrągowo from 1969 created the Museum of the Land of Mrągowo, transformed in 1975. in the Museum in Mrągowo, as a branch of the Museum of Warmia and Mazury.

The current seat of the museum is the 19th century Town Hall and the so-called Bosnian guards. The museum collects memorabilia of the region, poviat and town of Mragowo in the field of archeology, history and numismatics, ethnography, literature, contemporary and folk art. The Museum presents exhibits on permanent and temporary exhibitions.
