Accomodation in Gołdap

Gołdap is the only place in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship with the status of a health resort. The city is a gateway to the unusual and known for centuries the Romincka Forest - an area that the German Emperor Wilhelm II especially loved at the beginning of the 20th century. It was here that he hunted for the famous, handsome Rominc deer. A souvenir after hunting are the so-called Wilhelm's stones scattered over the Forest in places where the emperor shot a particularly good specimen of this animal.

The air and nature here are typically northern - crisp, raw, unpolluted. It is the air that causes the upper respiratory tract diseases to be treated in Gołdapia. But thanks to the air and the peat mud occurring here, visitors come to the spa with diseases of the movement organs, such as rheumatism, post-traumatic conditions and some cardiological diseases, respiratory and nervous systems, as well as female diseases.

On the Gołdapskie Lake in 2014, the fourth brine graduation towers in Poland and the Spa Park with a mineral water pump room and a salt grotto were opened. Gołdap is also one of the most popular ski resorts in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. On the slopes of Piękna Góra there are more than 2,000 m of ski runs and several lifts, including a chair lift, which also operates in summer and allows you to enter the summit. From the Piękna Góra there is an amazing view of the area. Throughout the year, there is a "rotating" café with a view of Piękna Góra in every direction.

Gołdap has also preserved the remains of bunkers from the former headquarters of the Luftwaffe command. In turn, from the terrace of the restored water tower, we can admire the city and the surrounding area from above. In Gołdap, we will also see a monument of the famous philosopher Immanuel Kant, who came to the city in the winter of 1775/1776 at the invitation of the commander of the Gołdap garrison, General von Lossowa.

Stańczyki

Stanczyki

The bridges in Stańczyki are one of the highest railway bridges in Poland. The whole consists of two bridges. The construction has 5 spans, about 180 m in length, up to 36.5 heights. Without a doubt, the bridges in Stańczyki are the most interesting of this type in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship - both in terms of architecture and landscape.

The bridges were built in the second decade of the 20th century. They are called aqueducts of the Romincka Forest. Their appearance resembles the most famous ancient Roman aqueducts. Under the bridges flows the picturesque Błędzianka river, which in some places has a submontane character. Once there were trains going from Gołdapia to Żytkieja. The railway line was opened in 1927. However, the trains ran only on the northern bridge, there were no tracks on the southern tracks. Today, the picturesque route has only a memory, old photographs and the tourist buildings of Żytkiejm preserved to this day. Once hotels and holiday resorts functioned here, and the people who came to Żytkiejm enjoyed the beautiful landscape and ski.

The Romincka Forest, through which this tourist route led, is one of the most interesting forest complexes of today's Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. Numerous height differences make this area called the Mazury Garbate. There is a rather harsh, mid-climate here. The unique fauna and flora of the local forests are a bit like taiga. Near the bridges in Stańczyki there is a historic alley of trees, which is made up of Swedish jays in the number of over 200 pieces. On the same route closed today, the railway line has preserved beautiful bridges and railway viaducts in Kiepojcie, Botkunach and Galwieciach.
