Description

The Castle was established as a border stronghold on the border between Silesia and Lusatia, Czocha Castle, it was built in 1241-1247 on the order of the Czech King Wenceslas I.

As Lusatia was then part of the Czech crown, in 1253 the castle was handed over to the Bishop of Meissen von Weisenow. Czocha Castle in 1319 was included in the Duchy of Henry I Jaworski as a dowry. In 1346, the castle was taken over by Bolko II Mały - the prince of Świdnica and Jawor. After his death and the death of his wife, he returned to the Czech Republic, under a treaty for survival with the emperor and the king of Bohemia, Charles IV. For years the Czocha castle was owned by the knights' families von Klüks and von Dohn.

Czoch Castle was bought in 1909 by Ernest Gütschowa (a Dresden manufacturer of tobacco products - cigars). The reconstruction of the castle, in accordance with the appearance preserved in Figure 1703, lasted until 1912 and was made by the well-known Berlin architect Bodo Ebhardt. The then owner of the castle lived in it until March 1945. When he left the castle, Czocha took away the most valuable part of the equipment.

During World War II (in 1945) in the Czocha castle, the Germans placed a super-secret intelligence center, where there was a "fish-sword" - a decrypting machine for decryption of Soviet telegrams. After the Second World War the castle was going through hard times. He was robbed many times, both by native looters and Russians. Czocha Castle in 1952 was allocated to the Military Holiday House, which made it secret and not appear on the maps. As a hotel and conference center, it has been available since September 1996.

The castle, together with its extensive castle area, meets above all as a hotel, as well as a venue for mass events, corporate events or other events. Tourists visiting Czocha Castle can enjoy numerous attractions. You can watch demonstrations of knights' fights, listen to concerts of early and intimate music. The guide will show you around the Podzamcze, the Imperial Chamber, as well as the rooms (traveler, knight, hunter or Boy Wizard). The guide, guiding tourists, starts from the vaulted ceiling of the entrance hall and from here leads to the Knight's Room, which is covered with a massive beam ceiling.

In the western part of the castle there is a library with shelves full of books. Czocha Castle has many interesting places to visit.
