Bishop's trail in Bałdy
Description
It was in Bałdy in Masuria, just before the border with Warmia in nearby Łajsa, a delegation of the Warmian Chapter and the inhabitants of the region solemnly welcomed the new bishop. Such a custom existed in Warmia since the times of Bishop Stanisław Hozjusz (XVI c.) To the times of Ignacy Krasicki (the last bishop of Warmia before the partition, XVIII c.).
After the ceremonial welcome in Bałdy, the Holy Mass in the church in neighboring Butryny, the retinue through Barczewo and Jeziorany went to the capital of Warmia - Lidzbark Warmiński. The 1200 m long road in Bałdach, planted with old monumental limes, is called the Gate of Warmia.
In addition to monumental trees, the tracts are made up of information boards and memorial boulders - each dedicated to a specific Warmian bishop. The alley is dedicated to all Warmian bishops - from the first Anselm (XIII century) to the bishops who currently direct the diocese. Every year in July, the Warmia Kiermas of Tradition, Dialogue and Play takes place in Bałdy, the element of which is the staging of the bishop's entry to Warmia.
