It is also the most modern center of cultural life in this part of Europe. Designed by a respected architect and urbanist Marek Budzyński, the facility has been equipped with innovative technological solutions. Thanks to these possibilities, the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic - European Art Center conducts various theatrical and musical activities, having its own recording studio and conditions for radio and television broadcasting.
The building also creates an attractive conference and exhibition space. The opera's varied repertoire includes opera performances (including "La Bohème" and "Carmen"), theater and music (including "Doctor Zhivago" and "Phantom in opera") and extensive concert activity. The Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic - European Center of Art undertakes cooperation with outstanding conductors, composers and soloists - on its stage guests were: Stanisław Skrowaczewski, Jacek Kaspszyk, Mieczysław Dondajewski, Kazimierz Kord, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Wojciech Kilar, Witold Lutosławski, Krzysztof Penderecki, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Tadeusz Strugała, Wojciech Rajski, Marek Pijarowski, Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, Shlomo Mintz, Garrick Ohlsson, Wanda Wiłkomirska, Piotr Paleczny, Kevin Kenner, Aleksandra Kurzak, Małgorzata Walewska, Artur Ruciński.
The headquarters include the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra, Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic Choir, Children's Choir of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic, chamber ensembles as well as the Big Band of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic.
