Description
Its founder was Dr. Witold Eichler (1874-1960), a physician, a passionate entomologist and ethnographer, and an active socio-political activist.
After the war, the city authorities allocated the 16th century former manor of the Cracow chapter, commonly known as the Castle, to the needs of the museum. The museum in its walls was opened in May 1948. In 1972, the institution acquired the second building - the former general school No. 3, built in 1886.
The Museum of the City of Pabianice conducts various activities. In addition to tasks related directly to the collection / acquisition, development, etc. / we deal with activities: exhibition, education, concert, scientific. Meetings, lectures and lectures are organized, as well as the Museum Night and the European Heritage Days.
A Renaissance attic court with defensive features from the second half of the 16th century. Built in 1566-1571 by the builder Wawrzyniec Lorek with the efforts of the canonist Stanisław Dąbrowski. It was the seat of the managers of the Pabianice estate of the Cracow chapter. In 1833, converted into a town hall, now the Museum of the City of Pabianice.
A brick mansion, plastered, set on a plan similar to a square with two alcoves on opposite corners with a beautiful attic of external facades. The interior has profiled wooden ceilings and fragments of wall paintings. The manor house belongs to the unique and valuable monuments of Polish Renaissance architecture.
The Pabianice City Museum is open to visitors on the following days of the week:
- Monday the museum is closed,
- Tuesday from 10.00 - 15.00,
- Wednesday (free entry) 10.00 - 18.00,
- Thursday 10.00 - 15.00,
- Friday 10.00 - 18.00,
- Saturday 12.00 - 17.00,
- and on the first Sunday of the month between 12.00 and 17.00
