Located on the site of the former Oskar Schindler's factory, the museum has been operating since 19 May 2011.

The MOCAK building, designed by Florence studio Claudio Nardi Architects, combines a modern form with a partial adaptation of post-industrial architecture, inscribed in the industrial buildings of Zabłocie.

The exhibition space occupying nearly 4000 m2, which also includes separate galleries Alfa, Beta and Re, hosts numerous exhibitions devoted to Polish and foreign art of the last two decades.
